BSPA Welcomes Crystal Hall as New President

The Behavioral Science & Policy Association (BSPA) is pleased to announce that Crystal Hall has been appointed President of the association. A leading scholar in behavioral science and public policy, Crystal Hall brings extensive experience applying insights from psychology and behavioral economics to address complex social challenges.

Crystal is a faculty member at the Evans School of Public Policy & Governance at the University of Washington, where her research examines decision-making in the context of poverty, economic opportunity, and policy implementation. Her work combines insights from social and cognitive psychology with behavioral economics to better understand how behavioral science can inform effective policies and programs.

Beyond her academic contributions, Crystal has extensive experience working with government agencies and organizations to translate behavioral insights into practice. She has served as a Fellow with the White House Social and Behavioral Sciences Team and the Federal Office of Evaluation Sciences at the General Services Administration, and has advised government agencies, nonprofits, and community organizations on applying behavioral science to improve programs and services.

Crystal holds a PhD and MA in Psychology from Princeton University and a BS from Carnegie Mellon University in Decision Science and Policy and Management.

As BSPA’s new President, Crystal will help advance the association’s mission of connecting behavioral science research with policy and practice.

Commenting on her new role, Crystal shared: “I am humbled and honored to take on this leadership role. BSPA has played a huge role in my professional journey since its founding, and I’m grateful to Craig Fox and Sim Sitkin for their leadership and the trust they have placed in me to transition into this new chapter. I look forward to building on the foundation they’ve established and continuing to serve our members and advance our mission.”
